Slide 1

"Our lives at times seem a study in contrast...love & hate, birth & death, right & wrong...everything seen in absolutes of black and white. Too often we are not aware that it is the shades of grey that add depth and meaning to the starkness of those extremes." - Ansel Adams

About Info

Originating from County Durham, Emma now lives in the West of Scotland where she draws inspiration from the abundance of life in that part of the world.  Her light hearted pen and ink drawings seem to have a unique darkness to them, in which she uses shading to create depth and texture to bring her pieces to life.  The outcome is a unique blend of precise shading on free flowing illustration that results in a piece that captivates the attention of the viewer.

A collection of prints and original illustrations are available.  For bespoke pieces please get in touch for details.

Our Artwork

Fusion

Using Pen and ink on real world photographs, these works use a clever technique to blur the lines between fantasy and reality. In doing so their visual trickery inspires imagination that whispers the existence of magic.

Bespoke

Bespoke pieces combine this unique style with elements of your own imagination, adding a little magic to the everyday.

Pen and Ink

These rich pieces bring imaginative vistas to life, though this work also has a darkness to it that is contradictory in nature and could possibly even be the most prolific element of this style.

Artist Statement

Inspiration often comes from time and space rather than conceptualised action, nature has a habit of being random and often very amusing.  Like a rabbit hunting dog finding a deer, inspiration can be staring you straight in the face, or sometimes needs to be grabbed with both hands as it comes yelping past at high speed.  Using pen and ink to create depth and texture I invent mythical landscapes established in the everyday.
